A Ground based image of the Large Magellanic Cloud giant HII region N159
through a filter selecting the doubly ionized oxygen line
[OIII] (5007 Å).
The one shown below is an H-alpha
(6563 Å) image of N159 on which
the region observed with the WFPC2 of HST
is delineated.
These images, taken in 1982 with the ESO/Danish 1.54m telecope and a McMullan
electronographic camera, uncovered the high excitation compact blob
N159-5 (indicated by the red arrow). North is up and east is to the left.
