Résumé :
The California Institute of Technology, Cornell University, and the Jet
Propulsion Laboratory are working to construct a large
sub-millimeter telescope in the high Andes of northern Chile. This
instrument, called the Cornell Caltech Atacama Telescope (CCAT), will be
used to address fundamental questions regarding cosmic origins: (i) The
origin of galaxies and the early evolution of the Universe, (ii) The
formation of stars and the evolution of interstellar matter, (iii) The
histories of planetary systems. In my talk, I will discuss the main
science areas to be explored with CCAT and describe the current status of
the project, including the telescope concept design, first light
instrumentation and site selection.
