On using spectral population models to study the chemical pattern of galaxies

Résumé :
The chemical pattern of a galaxy is a keystone to understand its
origin and evolution. Recent years have seen a fast development of
stellar population models that provide the ways to extract this
information from integrated spectra. The field, and the models, are
still maturing though. In this talk I will present an overview of the
current status on the field, from the perspective of a stellar
population modeller. I will highlight recent achievements, and the
aspects that need further improvement.
