HOU activities in Japan Current activities related to HOU in Japan are reported. Practical applications along the original HOU curriculum are curried out at several places. At the Science Museum Tokyo a part of main course is used in a course for applicants of repeated visitors of the museum. HOU curriculum for Junior high school was translated into Japanese and it is used at a Junior high school in Tokyo. "Jupiter project 2002" was done under coordination of JA-HOU Teachers. The project to make "Spectrum Curriculum" was finished in Japanese language. English version for international users is under progress by JA-HOU Teachers. The first draft of English version is finished in some sections. To increase accessibility and supply of real astronomical image data "Kitanomaru Interactive Telescope" (KIT) was built at the rooftop of the Science Museum Tokyo. It is run by JA-HOU. KIT can be remotely operated through the Internet. At present test operations have started under steering of the KIT administration group. Some related but non-HOU activities are also reported here. The project "Umigame (Turtle) Live", which is online monitoring project using an Internet camera under sea, is carried out by some JA-HOU teachers and Internet freaks in Japan. An interstellar cruising software "HippLiner" is developed by JA-HOU teachers and collaborators. The viewpoint and viewing angle can be moved through an insterstellar space and a viewing mode can be changed interactively. It is helpful to understand a 3 dimensional distribution of stars around Sun. It is used in a live-show at the Science Museum Tokyo.

JAHOU curriculum on Spectroscopy, latest status

In modern astronomy spectroscopic studies are very important. However, we have not quick introduction for astronomical spectroscopy as a counter part of astronomical imaging in HOU curriculum. To improve the situation JA-HOU teachers made a "spectrum curriculum" as a minimum course to understand spectroscopic studies in modern astronomy. We have finished the first version textbook/work book, which is written in Japanese. We start to distribute it for JA-HOU teachers to evaluate how effective it is. We start to transrate whole texts in English with some additional JA-HOU teachers for international use.

The Universe liveshow in the Science Museum at Tokyo
Conventional planetariums are designed to understand the planet motion on sky viewing from Earth. It gave a conceptual impact for people about planetary motion on the sky by changing the time rate of motion. The latest digitalized planetariums can move the viewpoint in the solar system. It gives another impact which comes from relation between apparent motions of planets on the sky and their actual motions in space. However, we have many other conceptual impacts from many results of mordern astronomy. Using computer graphics and simulations we can show these latest impacts to many people. To realize it we have made and play the "universe liveshow" in the Scicence Museum Tokyo. It is composed by several sections: online remote astronomical observations, traveling in the solar system, cruising in an interstellar space, interactive talk on radio astronomy, gravitational interaction between two galaxies, light ray affected by gravitation, and others. The liveshow is conducted by one of the reserved scientists, which enable an interactive style and give extendable talk to background sciences. The conductor scientists also introduce a larger reservoir of scientists in various scientific fields and from the reservoir a scientist comes the show and gives a talk with a conductor scientist.

HippLiner, a new presentation software to get a concept of star field in space :
T.Handa, T.Nomoto
We have made a software to present 3 dimensional distribution of nearby stars aroud Sun. The software is named "HippLiner" after its funtion of free flight between most of stars in Hipparcus catalog. Using the software we can present a distribution of stars. HippLiner has two presentation modes; "view" and "map" modes. Using them we can show how look like the costellations on othre stars and disk-like distribution in large scale, which is a mordern version of "Kepteyn's Galaxy". HippLiner also shows proper motions of stars in three directions and we can show the constellations a million years ago and after.
