Presentation

I studied at the Ecole Polytechnique in Palaiseau for 3 years. Then, I followed a Master program in partnership with the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris. I am now preparing a PhD thesis at the Laboratoire d'Etude du Rayonnement et de la Matière en Astrophysique at the Obervatoire de Paris. The subject of my thesis is: Synergy between the infrared and micro-wave sounders on-board MetOp for the restitution of atmospherical profiles.

The objective of this study is to develop new statistical tools able to exploit the synergy between the infrared and the micro-wave radiations. There are more and more satellite dedicated to atmospherical sounding which implies a high increase of the number of data available. The algorithms used in the operational centers (NWP...) use those data independently. A simultaneous usage of those data would improve the precision of the retrievals. In a first step, a huge work has been performed to characterise the surface in the infrared. A retrieval scheme has been develop in order to retrieve high spectral emissivities in the infrared.
The tools and algorithms used and developed in this study can be use in any context containing synergy. All it needs is having information coming from different sources on the same variable. In this optic many different tolls have been used during the thesis to show the advantages and drawbacks of each.

During the same time, I follow a Master of Business Administration at the Collège de Ingénieurs in Paris. It helps me getting essentials notions concerning management, human resources, project management, but also accounting and finance. This allows adjoining management qualities to my technical and scientific background, which is very important in order to deal with project management.

I also have done a scientific consulting mission for the start-up Estellus, which is a service company in atmospheric and environmental sciences. Their principal activity deals with satellite data acquisition, development of inversion algorithms of the satellite measurements, production, evaluation and interpretation of satellite products for meteorology or climatology and also the settings of new instruments on board the satellites. In the context of my consulting mission, I applied some of the algorithms developed during my PhD on global datasets and compared them to operational products.

In the future, I would like to use my scientific and managerial skills by remaining in the spatial domain and managing research project. During my PhD, the contacts I have developed with spatial agency (CNAS, ESA) as well as with industrial partners (EADS-Astrium, Thalès) confirmed me in my determination in completing my MBA and my PhD to be able to face the high difficulties of the spatial projects (human resources dealing, diversity of the co-workers, operational organisation, ...).

PhD Thesis:

I have just finished a first version of my PhD thesis. It is currently beeing reviewed. The definite version will be avaliable here by october. Sorry it is in french, due to government constrains. English readers will refer to the english papers in the corresponding section.

You will find below the presentation made on the 30th of September. Sorry, it is once again in French. It has been made with the Inkscape's extension Sozi.

Below is a video of the retrievals of atmospheric profiles and surface emissivity at 1100 cm-1 from AMSU-A, AMSU-B and IASI on board MetOp for the 1st of March 2013.
